Please mark your calendars for a new upcoming event!
“No event in American history is more misunderstood than the Vietnam War. It was misreported then, and it is misremembered now. Rarely have so many people been so wrong about so much. Never have the consequences of their misunderstanding been so tragic.” Richard Nixon
On Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Flagler College Auditorium, 14 Granada St., St Augustine, Vietnam Veterans will receive the “Welcome Home” they missed so many years ago.
The doors will open at 2pm and the public will be witness to many special exhibits including the “Travelling Vietnam Wall”, a special tribute to POW/MIA’s and a travelling wall with the names of Florida residents who paid the ultimate price in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Veteran organizations will be present to offer assistance and information.
The premier runs from 3:00pm to 5:30pm. A free shuttle to/from parking garage to the auditorium will be provided by OLD TOWN TROLLEY TOURS
Florida Veterans Programs and Projects, Inc. will be presenting the premier of the documentary, “Vietnam: Service, Sacrifice & Courage”. The event is free and open to the public.
The documentary is a collaborative effort of many organizations that include Allied Veterans of the World, Inc. & Affiliates, the Veterans Council of St. Johns County, Florida Veterans Programs & Projects, Inc., and the Communications Department, History Department, and Administration of Flagler College.
“The lion’s share of recognition goes to the students enrolled in the Television Workshop class and their instructors, Mark Huelsbeck and Josh Wallace”, said Producer Michael Rothfeld. “Without their diligent work the documentary would not have been made. Wallace filled two positions as Director and Senior Editor. “The workshop class is 1 pass/fail credit and not reflected in the student’s G.P.A.” said Huelsbeck. This became a labor of love for each student.
The show and premier runs from 3:00pm to 5:30pm. A free shuttle to/from parking garage to the auditorium will be provided by OLD TOWN TROLLEY TOURS
