Michael Rothfeld -Eclipse Recording Company

Michael Rothfeld was a high school Special Education teacher for thirty-five years in Brooklyn, New York. He has been residing in Elkton, Florida for the past ten years.

Michael holds Masters Degrees in Special Education and American History. It was this interest in history that led him to conceive of and produce a documentary about the 32 World War Two veterans of Coquina Crossing, the community in which he resides. He says “I realized that the stories of these veterans were in danger of being lost, so I decided to have them recorded in order that their experiences would not be forgotten”. The documentary he produced with Flagler College students, titled Serve and Protect, led to other documentaries, on Korea and Vietnam all featuring NE FL veterans. These documentaries all premiered at the Flagler College Auditorium in St. Augustine, attended by more than 750 people. The PBS station in Jacksonville, WJCT-TV, broadcasts the documentaries each November around Veterans Day.

Michael is the President of the Not For Profit Corporation, Florida Veterans Programs & Projects, Inc. which sends packages to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as knitted caps and hand-made quilts to our wounded in Germany. The Not for Profit produces the documentaries and provides veteran speakers for schools, libraries, Museums and colleges.

FVPPI has started its next project, the heroic story of local ex American Prisoners of War. This documentary will be filmed and edited by Eclipse Recording Co. and Jim Stafford and Dan Bagan will film and edit this documentary. WJCT President and CEO, Michael Boylan, has promised to premiere the POW documentary on Sept. 16, 2011 which is National POW/MIA Day. The documentary will also premier at Flagler College auditorium on Friday evening Sept. 16.

FVPPI is looking for tax deductible donations to fund this documentary. Checks can be mailed to FVPPI, 4905 Los Altos Circle, Elkton, FL 32033.
