It’s been a great couple of weeks at Eclipse Recording Company! It may be summer, but the crew here at Eclipse hasn’t shown a sign of slowing down. The talent we’ve had come through our doors and into our studio lately have brought a surge of energy into Eclipse Recording Company. Many thanks to the Eclipse artists, and we sure hope to have you in the studio with us again!
I was lucky enough to have recorded at Eclipse Recording Company just last week, and the results were beyond what I had expected. Jim and I set up an arsenal of amplifiers, providing a huge wall of sound that I had been searching for the last 7 or 8 years of my musical life. The amps were rare, vintage pieces that only an audio aficionado such as Jim Stafford would be able to compile, and when blended together, they move speakers to say the least. I also layered the drums, bass, and vocals by myself, respectively, which turned my track into a poignant yet fun piece. When we say Eclipse is a studio that does it all, we also mean it’s a studio that does it all REALLY well.
My original song ‘Hypothermia’ can be best described as power funk, with lots of pushy and rhythmic vocals. My friend described it as a ‘groovy’ song, tapping into some 1970’s influence but still maintaining its 2011 feel. Thanks to the great mics and equipment here at Eclipse, I was able to achieve a massive drum sound which powers the whole mix. There’s nothing like turning up your newly recorded song in your car stereo right after the session to find that the mix sounds even better than you had expected. That’s what audio engineering experience combined with a great song gives you; a result bigger and better than you expected. At Eclipse, they have the tools and know-how to make any musical act sound good, be it rap, rock, alternative, or acoustic-based. There’s nothing in the world better than hearing your song done correctly, and for that I thank Eclipse Recording Company.
