March was a very busy and exciting month for us here at Eclipse culminating with recording Kevin Costner and Modern West. They stopped between dates on their current US tour and worked on music for the History Channel’s mini series about the Hatfields and McCoys set to air Memorial Day. Kevin stars as “Devil” Anse Hatfield. During the session, Kevin recorded vocals for several hours and they also tracked guitar, drums and worked on some new material under the watchful eye of producer/engineer and band member Teddy Morgan. A video-grapher filmed most of the day which I think will be used as a “making of” show about the mini series. They’ve promised to send us some stills when they get a chance and we’ll share them when they do.

Kevin was just as down to earth as his film characters normally are and was a true pleasure to work with. At one point, for the camera, he talked about his process of “getting into character” to play Anse Hatfield. It was fascinating listening to him and how he compared it to his preparation for ” Dances With Wolves”. Harmony, a long time Costner fan, was very nervous about meeting him. Kevin turned on the charm and genuinely put her right at ease.
